BEER SITE - AUGUST SCHELL BREWING COMPANY Founded in 1860, the
August Schell Brewing Company is the second -oldest family owned brewing company in the United States, and the oldest industry
in New Ulm. At this site, August Schell rolled out his first barrel of beer a century and a half ago, and the brewery
continues to be managed by his fifth-generation descendants. Schell's new Visitor's Center includes an expanded Gift
Shop and a Museum of Brewing. Guided tours conclude in the Rathskeller Tap Room with a tasting. Visitors may stroll
through the extensive Schell's Gardens. Nominal fee for tours. MEMORIAL DAY THROUGH LABOR DAY: Tours run daily

WINE SITE - MORGAN CREEK VINEYARDS Morgan Creek Vineyards' eco-friendly underground winery
provides perfect cellar temperature for wine production, and creates an inviting atmosphere for tasting room and gift shop

WINE SITE - FIELDSTONE VINEYARDS Fieldstone Vineyards is located on a Minnesota
Century Farm, purchased in 1901 by Henry and Catherine Reding. Over the years, many different varieties of agriculture
were practiced on the farm. Now managed by partners including descendants of the Redings, Fieldstone Vineyards released
their first vintage in the spring of 2003. A 1930's style dairy barn has been renovated as the winey. Visitors
are welcomed to tour the vineyard, winery, tasting room and gift shop. Location: 38577 State Hwy. 68, 4.5 miles west

HISTORIC SITE - R.D. HUBBARD HOUSE R.D. Hubbard, a captain of industry in southern Minnesota, founded the Mankato linseed
oil processing plant in 1870. He built the largest flour mill in the south-state and established the largest system of grain
elevators stretching across southern Minnesota and into South
Dakota. In a truly prodigious and daring journey, he and his wife amassed a small fortune in the grocery
business in Pennsylvania, and traveled together from New York to California, from Nicaragua, to the Fraser River in British
Columbia before arriving in Mankato in 1870.Visit the “silk stocking district” and tour the historic
home of the Hubbard’s. The house survived in its original form. The Hubbard House played a significant role in the social
life of Mankato- the pleasant ambiance provided by the Hubbard’s

HISTORIC SITE – MAURICE STANS HOUSE (SCOTT COUNTY)
Maurice Stans served as Managing Executive Partner of the Alexander Grant Company (now Grant Thornton),
for nearly fifteen years before leaving in 1955 to pursue a career in public service.Stans work in the Eisenhower administration to balance the federal budget was a function of national security.Eventually Stans was selected to become Secretary of
Commerce by President Nixon, the first accountant to achieve a cabinet position.He left that position to head up the re-election fundraising campaign for Mr. Nixon – which ended with his resignation
and the Watergate investigation.After more than a year of federal hearings and
trials, Stans was cleared of having any knowledge whatsoever of Watergate and fined only for unintentional violations in his
scrupulous handling of millions of dollars of campaign funds.Ultimately, he
won total vindication in a 1992 article in the Washington Post.
The Stans
House is a Dutch Colonial Revival.The one-and-a-half story house furnished in
the 1920s period features a cross-gambrel roof, open front porch, wood-frame siding, and cedar shingles.Maurice’s father, Herbert, a house painter and paperhanger by trade, built the family home in 1908.
Herbert was also a musician and a local band director, holding practice sessions in the parlor of the house.The Stans house is an excellent example of a popular early twentieth century pattern architecture and middle
class life.
HISTORIC SITE - BLUE EARTH COUNTY HERITAGE
CENTER The HeritageCenter
is the home of the Blue Earth County Historical Society and houses the exhibit gallery, research center, museum store and
BECHS administrative offices. The Exhibit Gallery and Research Center hours are Tuesdays 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Wednesday through

Unique in design and appearance with its German Renaissance Style, the Brown County Historical
Society building was constructed in 1910 as the New Ulm Post Office. It was placed on the National Register of Historic
Places in 1970 and became the BCHS museum in 1984. The first floor exhibit is “Stewards of the Land” which
interprets the history of Brown County Century Farms. The second floor houses the “Ulm Room,” a gift from
our Sister City, Ulm, Germany and in 2008, “Key Ingredients” a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian and a Brown
County Artist’s exhibit will also open on this floor. The third floor exhibit depicts the history of the Dakota
War of 1862. These exhibits along with the BCHS research library’s extensive family and historic files help attract
more than 8,000 visitors a year. The gift shop focuses on books about the history of the area and also fun things to
do and see in Brown County. Pick up a free walking tour brochure and acquaint yourself with historic sites, people and

HISTORIC SITE - LIND HOUSE John Lind, a Swedish-born immigrant, was elected as Minnesota's 14th governor in 1899. The Lind house was built on the corner of Center and
State streets in 1887 by John and Alice Lind at a cost of $5,000. John Lind was the first Swedish-born American to be elected
to the United States Congress, president of the University Board of Regents, diplomatic representative to Mexico, and Minnesota Governor. This elegant Queen Anne house
has beautiful architecture and historical significance, and was once the center of the community's cultural activities; listed
on the National Register of Historical Buildings, this house is open for tours, meetings, and social events House Tour Schedule

HISTORIC SITE - GILFILLAN ESTATES
Charles Duncan Gilfillan
purchased 13,000 acres of land in Redwood County. On the site now known as Gilfillan, Charles built a beautiful home and offices,
and later a grain elevator, stock yard, and tenant homes. He raised livestock for export to Great Britain. Charles Oswin Gilfillan who was born in 1872, succeeded his father as owner of Gilfillan. He built the Morgan Library
as a memorial to his father, and gave 160 acres to help support and maintain the building. Gilwood Haven in Redwood Falls,
the Wabasso Library, and a building in Clements housing a lounge, fire hall, and council room were other Gilfillan gifts.
The farm site was left to Redwood County Historical Society to be kept in memory of C.O. Gilfillan.
Its intended purpose is to preserve the history of the Gilfillan Estate and the surrounding area and to make this history
